Re: New 710M owner in Dallas, TX

I used to own a 712. I currently have a C303 and 3 Unimog’s of different sizes. I was passing through the intersection in my wife’s Silver Gwagon when I saw you getting ready to make the left turn off Preston. PM me if you like, I live near Preston and Frankford. Dokatd, yeah I was on Preston yester...

Re: 4WD electronics

Ok, my truck supplier in Sweden got me sorted out.

Wires go opposite each other on the switch. One orientation works the other does not. Meaning it’s either black with white trace on top and bottom and solid black on sides or rotate all 90degrees if first orientation does not work.

Re: 4WD electronics

Does anyone have a pic of their t-case showing the wires in and out of the switch just above and forward of the parking brake drum? There are two black/whites and two solid blacks.

Re: 4WD electronics

Think the T-case switch is my problem. Think I accidentally wired the solenoid up to ground. Image

Re: 4WD electronics

Appreciate the help, I’m still stumped but the suggestions are good. Here is what is working • Ignition off - no power and valve is allowing the 4wd bellows to be open to atmosphere (4wd engaged) • Ignition on - valve actuates and draws vacuum on the bellows (2wd engaged) • 4wd button depressed - no...

Re: 4WD electronics

To my knowledge there is one solenoid in the stock setup. It’s the one mounted to the wall inside the cab behind the back seat heater. It is connected to Vacuum and then to the bellows that actuates the 4wd. Bet I can tell is that the switch on the dashboard is the first line of defense and it cuts ...

Re: 4WD electronics

Remember, this is now a 12V system. The old valve has been replaced with a new one. My problem is that the circuit is not breaking so I can’t select 4wd. Nothing else in the circuit should be voltage dependent. Or so I assume.

Re: 4WD electronics

Yes, low range is one of the multiple conditions that will turn on 4WD.

4WD electronics

So of course the 4WD is actuated by the valve in the rear cab behind the passenger seat. This valve is 24v. My truck is now 12V. This is one of the final items I need to fix so I don't have to manually engage 4WD. I tried a regular 12V valve but two problems have come up. One is the valve is maybe n...

Re: U-Joints

The joints are 1310’s by the way. The drive flanges are also a standard DIN pattern. Tom Woods drive shafts can easily build new or custom shafts.

Re: Engine wanted

I’m conflicted on if the pinz drive train can handle the R2.8. Having been neck deep in the pinz drive train a few times I never found it to be overly delicate. Biggest pain is the 4/6wd selector in the witches hat. The transmission on the C303 is not exactly a brute part either. I had my doubts and...

Re: Engine wanted

Was that highway and city combined? What size tire are you running? On my Volvo I’m running 34” tires. 17mpg is sort of combined. Much of my driving was done at 50mph surface streets with some being 70mph Tollway. To truly get a good combined I would really think I would need to run a known amount ...

Re: Engine wanted

GadgetPhreak, I’m a bit confused who you are talking to. But I say go for it on the pinz. Honestly I do think it’s not the best engine option but it would make the pinz a fun truck. My biggest desire on the pinz was an automatic which was going to be an easy swap but I sold my pinz before I got star...

Re: Engine wanted

Finally got a good sampling for MPG. Looks like I’m getting 17mpg with a fairly heavy/sporty foot. 20mpg+ should be easy with a light foot.
