Re: New front brakes (part 3)
there are many reasons you now have much better brake performance. The original pads were very hard and did not provide the best braking possible although they last forever. The booster we have seen make a HUGE difference in performance especially if it had been contaminated by brake fluid. Proper a...

Re: Rubber shock cord
rubber shock cord is the best option. many have tried other items with no better results. I saw a truck rope used but the top took one heck of a beating as the rope did not flex so the top had to do all the work, which it did not do very well. Just remove all the cordage and measure for length. Sugg...

Re: Least expensive tires?
I recently put a set of American Tourer SL369 tires on my G. Wanted to see if the tire size was in the range I was looking for and did not want to spend a ton of money if they did not work out. These tires are 10 ply and have exceeded my expectations for even name brand tires. I have been out in the...

Re: Expedition Imports Acquires EuroTruck’s Parts Operations
I really have been enjoying the G I purchased from Scott. I am thankful he is going into the G parts business as the local Mercedes shop around here did not want anything to do with mine. The counter guys could not find it in their computer so did not want to waste any time looking up parts.

Re: Swamp cooler/Portable AC for camping in rear bed...
I built my swamp cooler utilizing the electric fans from the radiators found on landrovers. they handle the moisture very well and draw relatively low amount of power. The problem is you are in a humid climate so swamp cooling benefits are limited. AC the next option but like vince said it would mea...

Re: Expedition Imports Acquires EuroTruck’s Parts Operations
The real question is "will we be seeing more G wagons anytime in the near future brought in?" I know the weakening of the dollar makes it more difficult but I wonder what the market here can handle.

Re: Great Dometic fridge deals!
would be great if there is another option in hi performance fridge/freezers for the trucks. have been using and still use a couple of engel fredge freezers in my pinz and G. Ultra low power consumption and works on all three power sources 12/24 or 120. If you have not been considering a fridge for y...

Re: Lots of bucket seats for ...?
yes that is the tight side. Most would like their seats to match and there are plenty of them out there. I am getting pretty good at finding seats that fit and can be mounted at or lower then the stock set. Most owners for some reason still want to be able to slide the drivers seat forward which is ...

Re: Has a Pinzgauer ever been taken on Die Trying trail in Colorado?
I highly doubt it. I have done Chinamans gulch and was considering Carnage Canyon. Even had my lines picked out but was not going to run it alone especially that far from home. As is the case with the hard core trails out of state, no support and being alone is not the best scenario.

Master ground switch operation
I know there is a relay under the drivers seat that protects the electrical system in case the ground switch is turned off while the truck is running. What I don't know is what exactly happens when the ground switch is turned off to the electrical system. How/what does the relay do?

Re: Torque for Transit Wheels?
it also should be noted that some folks who thought tighter was better had to buy new rims. You can search and see where they cracked the rims at the lug holes from being too tight and also using the wrong lug nuts.

Re: That alternating harmonic of the drivetrain
well I am down the well worn road. To date I have no known ill effects but I am sure it is causing faster wear on other parts of the differential and transfer case. Replacing them is on my VERY short list of things to do. I had the work done on my 710 and I would venture that over 80% of the issue w...

Re: That alternating harmonic of the drivetrain
from what I have seen it is a combination of a couple things. The driveshaft was not balanced as well as you would think, in most cases just a piece of metal welded at a point determined by a rough balancing system. the compounding issue is the carrier bearings getting a little sloppy form wear. the...
