As Peter said but I would add a bit of heat - where it is is not going to damage any steering box seals - screw that shaft as tight as you can - heat - screw - heat - screw - bang - cool - cool - cool

Re: Registering "Grey Market" car car in California
Rules, Regulations, Paperwork and Red Tape......It seems to be the same everywhere nowdays. Seems to be a characteristic of countries that comprise a Federation of States - even though it is one country the States seems to have their own ideas of how to do things. California doesn't like Pinz...

Re: Unimog and Mil. Gwagen in Ca.
I find the US attitude to foreign diesels a bit anti competitive - the US allows their own home grown crappy low powered (for engine size) dirty diesels but makes it almost impossible for modern foreign high powered, low emission diesels to be imported - might be able to done but most manufacturers ...

Re: Steering
I have mine off a few times without any real issue - I would be using a standard socket (not 12 point) and using a big breaker bar - moderate heat should not hurt but nothing real hot.
But all this should not be needed.

Re: Replacement side mirrors
These Defender mirrors should work OK. I have them on a vehicle and they work well. Also thinking of them for my Haflinger. http://www.paddockspares.com/mtc5217-door-mounted-mirror-defender-type.html Or http://www.paddockspares.com/pm752-door-mounted-mirror-defender-large-type-web-exclusive-special-...

Re: Getting the most from the brake system of the Haflinger.
Mike I actually think the brakes are OK for the vehicle but I do have a lot of experience with drum braked vehicles. My haffie is driven on the road in the city a lot, is a bit quicker than most Haffies and stops very well - nice hard pedal and lots of grip. I think the trick is to always have the b...

Re: TentCot, anyone?
I have used these tents. They do go up quickly and are of excellent quality. They are heavy and are quite large when packed away. Probably not an issue if being placed in the back of a Pinz but with a normal 4wd like a Discovery 2 the tent in its bag is too large to go into the back and needs to go ...

Mike - some inspiration for you. This is a mates 101 - has a worked 3.9 injected V8 and goes much, much better than a 101 should  http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/Forum%20Posts%20Album/image5_zpsfcwkxbb2.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/Forum%20Posts%20Album/...

Re: TentCot, anyone?
Sorry missed the 24v to 12v trailer light reducer issue. I tow a number of 12v trailers with mainly 12v vehicles so no issue but as with the Pinz my Fc101 is 24v. I have one of these fitted to the rear of the chassis to convert 24v signals to 12v signals for the trailer. http://www.redarc.com.au/ima...

Re: TentCot, anyone?
Part of the reason involves mosquitoes of unusual ferocity. I've thought about rigging up mosquito netting, but figured this would likely get in the way when loading and unloading equipment. Yes I have been through the same consideration as you and did start with the Cot idea. I guess mossies are t...

Re: TentCot, anyone?
If you are going to sleep in the back why do you need a cot - why not just a mattress on the floor - in if you were in Aust a traditional Swag on the floor. The type of cot you mentioned is not popular here as they have poor thermal properties - cold when it is cold and hot when it is hot - mainly d...

Many new vehicles are fitted with Iridium or Platinum plugs as original equipment and do not seem to have issues.

Re: Anyone tried NGK Iridium spark plugs?
I have them in my Haflinger. They provide a much stronger spark and hence in tough conditions like if things oil up or the engine is running rich there is less sooting up of the plug - they just keep going where normal plugs may stop working. They also have a life about 5 times that of normal plugs ...

When you take the hardtop off - replace it with this - it fits. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/Forum%20Posts%20Album/JD1_zps1oszwmhx.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/Forum%20Posts%20Album/JD2_zps4ifkz54j.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/Forum%20Pos...
