Re: Stuck Toyotas

These guys do all their own stuff and nothing is staged - the two have their own vehicle and there is a third person who is the camera man in his own vehicle - sometimes you see this vehicle or the camera man's shadow - they have also just started using a quad copter to get aerial shots. It is not r...

Re: Stuck Toyotas

I wonder about the experience level though; there was some overreacting (or acting) going on. The worse your situation gets, the calmer you need to be. Its called human nature - not many people actually respond to the "don't panic" with calmness - they panic - yes and lessons learnt. All ...

Re: Stuck Toyotas

In that particular clip it may not be obvious but these guys really know what they are doing. They are the hosts of one of the greatest 4wd - adventure shows in Aust. The urgency of a rapidly rising tide and it associated panic resulted in the issues that happen in the link.

I can guarantee that irrespective of how clean it leaves it will still have to be cleaned again here at considerable cost when it gets here - just one of the rip offs.

Re: Rosie the rover

There is more in the hood sticks than you imagine - I would try to get the front and rear bows and the two top cross bows and make the rest your self. The hood sticks need to be right for the canvas top to work right. Does your vehicle still have the double roll bar just behind the driver - it forms...

Re: Rosie the rover

Some of your weather must have rubbed off here - got down to 14C last night and I had to turn the heater on  So putting aside the snow thing - what other work have you done. Mine is in my drive getting some of my hood sticks sorted. Also my passenger door top was so rusted out I had to get a ne...

Re: Swiss Army Land Rover Defender

Locally ex mil Perenti 3.9 Turbo Diesel 6x6 Landrovers sell for roughly half of what is being asked for, for the Swiss landie and the aussie 4x4s are far less.

The Australian (not Austrian) Army have 200 6x6 but it was deemed that the portals are not needed. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/G-Wagon_%206x6_surveillance_reconnaissance_vehicle_SRV_Mercedes-Benz_Australia_Australian_army_640_001_zps7zyad044.jpg https://www.google.com.au/search?q=...

Re: Swiss Army Land Rover Defender

Nice looking vehicle but way overpriced.

I am surprised they left the V8 in it rather than having the diesel version.

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

Similar to the set up in a FC101 - the reservoirs need to be higher than the brake master cylinder which is high up under the dash. They are a nuisance where they are but there are not many options.

Re: '66 Haflinger on eBay.. Shipping might be rough..

That is the front cyclone air pre filter for the engine - as fitted to the APT (tropical) versions. It is the same cyclone pre filter fitted in the engine bay of some Haflingers. Mounted on the front, it has a pipe that runs to the oil bath filter in the engine bay and the aim is to endure the engin...

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

Thanks John and Ian, Yes the process does muck your head around. For the 101 the local modifiers use a system similar to what Ian has done but it is in theory possible to just replace the 101 steering box and leave the rest of the system as is but it is hard to get a box that turns the right way - I...

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

Ian - where did you get the Rodeo bevel boxes and what sort of cost are we looking at. Also in that pic of the steering box by itself, if you turn the input shaft to the right does the output arm come towards you or away.

Thanks
