Re: Cheap way to fix Haflinger seat straps

They are sold in Aussie spare shops as an alternative to the bungee cord type tie down straps - the ones I have are certainly as strong as the standard rubber straps on my seats. You need straps that are shorter than is needed so they go in under tension. The only downside is they are not as wide as...

Re: Pinzgauer On Curvy Roads

Very good points made there by David. To reinforce the points made - not a Pinz but an Australia Army 101 doing brake tests on a high grip surface with no weight in the back. The 101 has a much lower CofG than a Pinz and is a much more stable vehicle. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/1...

Re: Check those fuel lines !

The angle on the hose where it joins the metal pipe is too great and as such is was under constant stress and cracked - the rubber pipe just needed to be a bit longer so the bend was more gentle and I doubt you would have had an issue.

Re: 12v winch

Our experience in Aust is that the basic construction of the cheap chinese winches is good enough but the quality control and lubricants are not. The trick is that when you get one is to strip it down and reassemble - use proper brand name grease not the soap they have in them, tighten all fastening...

Re: Rosie the rover

So would that front locker be the same as the one for the "sailsbury 1 tonne" axles that they had on some of the 109's? The locker is the one that fits the Defender 110 salsbury axle (4.7) - not sure about the 1 tonners as we do not get them here. I also understand you don't get Defenders...

Re: Rosie the rover

I have a detroit in the rear - a very easy installation (you cannot put them in the front as the 101 is constant all wheel drive) and I have a sals ARB in the front. Because of the larger axles in a 101 over other Landies, the ARB side gears are too small for the axles so you either have to get new ...

Re: Rosie the rover

Welcome to the 101 club - they are a great vehicle. I have diff locks fitted to mine and while portals provide under diff clearances on vehicles such as the Pinz and Haflinger they do come a the expense of stability in extreme conditions. Overall the Pinz and difflocked 101s have similar capabilitie...

Re: Pennsylvania registration

Reading all your posts concerning different experiences in different States in the US reflects very much my own experiences here in Australia as like the US we are a Federation of States, so each State has its own rules and each state resists any agreement for uniform across country rules. Indeed wh...

Re: Intro from Malaysia - WR7002 - C304

Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post but I am interested in your power steering - can you either point me to a link or describe it - obviously Volvo but I assume that is the hydraulic power steering box welded in the steering column. If so, what Volvo is it out of. I have a Landrover FC101 which ...

Re: How to create a 12 volt system from a 24 volt system?

The equalizer is mostly for the ARB cooler. Sorry I am a little confused - when you say equalizer do you in fact mean a 24v to 12v converter?? Or do you mean the device that goes between the two 12v batteries in the 24v battery system and allows you to tap off one of the 12v batteries to get 12v po...
