Re: rub rails

I made a pair for my 710m last summer in a friend's shop. White oak was very nice to work with. Used stainless replacement bolts and added stainless washers to back the Forsner countersink. I decided on tung oil as a finish. It is used as a marine finish of rain and splashed mud should be no problem...

Re: Serbia Pinzgauers and TAM 110s on Alibaba...

I have dealt with Alibaba a few times and had no issues. Their escrow service is very useful when large orders are placed. They even will arrange independent inspectors overseas. I got 5 roof-top safari tents with my own logo design on them for the cost of one here. The prices they are asking for th...

Re: Restoration Project -Parts and advice wanted

The driveline seems to be not too bad. The tires are by far too wide and crowd the springs. There was also some of the dreaded old orange silicon which in experiences yells, "I've been buggered about with! " around the transmission. It is inside now and on stands. The transmissio...

Had some time recently to get the body off with the help of my son and a big crow bar.

Re: Restoration Project -Parts and advice wanted

The steering box doesn't have any hammer damage so I don't think anyone smashed it. I think it was more likely a combination of the big tires and brute force. The steering wheel is fine and so is the bar it mounts too. It's a mystery. When I find my Pitman arm puller (it's in a safe place) I finish ...

Re: Restoration Project -Parts and advice wanted

Good advise thanks, John. I like the multi-plug idea. I was originally thinking of soldering and shrink-wrapping.

Cheers, Clive

Working a Haflinger is a great way to avoid boxing day shopping and enjoy the 11 degree (52 F) weather!

My francophone friends have all pointed out that the word order is wrong. It should be

Re: Restoration Project -Parts and advice wanted

Here are some more images. I dried out the canvas and found out it is a full rear and front roof. The material is not the greatest but very few rips. Should make a great pattern for a new one. The doors have dried out. Material is better than the tarp. New windows will definitely be advisable. Clive

Re: Restoration Project -Parts and advice wanted

Ok! Ok! I get the hint. Here are the first photos complete with a little Montreal snow. The wide tires had to come off to fit the trailer. If I save my pennies maybe a can rent a ride in the tracked beast some day! Afraid the Rover got jealous after getting us home safely and now will chew up tomorr...

Re: Restoration Project -Parts and advice wanted

Lots of great ideas, thanks. I've also been looking at the air cooled Subaru v-twin and other industrial engines along the same line. All include built in starter, alternator and even fuel injection. The issues would be setting up a clutch and mounting the engine to the bell housing. Lots to consider.

Restoration Project -Parts and advice wanted

I just got in from a 1400 km road trip to collect a Haflinger project. It's dark now so photos will have to wait until tomorrow. I know I will need a manual, battery box and fuel tank if anyone has spares. It also has no motor. (Unfortunately it was sold separately) I was toying with the idea of a B...

Re: Pinzgauer On Curvy Roads

Remember the rule of thumb, never go down a hill in a higher gear than you can go up it. You may be going slow by your Dad's standards if your speedo is like mine. Mine reads at least 15 km faster than I am going. (confirmed by radar gun) I felt pretty silly when I realized that my 10 over the limit...
