Re: LED headlights

LED light upgrades? Don't be stoopid. Upgrading a Pinzgauer, or even starting a thread about upgrading a Pinzgauer, will offend too many folks here on the forum.

But seriously, good thread, useful info.

Re: Electrical Upgrades For A Factory Restored 710M?

I have owned several military vehicles and would never change over to a 12V system from 24V. Why on earth would you do this? If it is just to have something to do and you have too much money just floating around with nothing to do Part of what I like to do with my money is buy rickety old cars and ...

Re: Electrical Upgrades For A Factory Restored 710M?

Not to be funny but all the threads you have started all seem like "pie in the sky" type of stuff and questions. Of course you can rewire it to 12v - any truck/car can be rewired given enough effort, time and cash. Asking us without your own research and understanding of automotive knowle...

Re: Electrical Upgrades For A Factory Restored 710M?

I'm gonna go against the grain on this one. If ever there was a place for improvement on a Pinz, it's on the electrical system. I'd look into a higher output alternator, or install a second w "house" batteries, increase the wire gauge for possible 12V conversion after figuring out what I ...

Re: Who Can Do Complete Pinzgauer Restorations?

Having been there I really don't think that anyone in the US can truly do what the factory can; including being able to dip complete bodies into baths. Vince, does this mean that in addition to stripping off all the 40 year old paint and rustproofing, they still dip the entire body and all its pane...

Re: Fan alternatives?

"IF" i broke my fan And it wasn't prime Pinzing season (winter) i'd probably look into Stereolithing myself a fan. I'm sure i could do it with Much better mat'l like Torlon. But thats because i have access to Faro arms, software for reverse engineering & fluid dynamics. It would be in...

Having been there I really don't think that anyone in the US can truly do what the factory can; they just have some amazing one-off tools and testing equipment there, including being able to dip complete bodies into baths. However you can definitely get some great work done by those mentioned and i...

Re: Did The Pinz 710M Come With A Heater?

If you are prepared to send it Europe and get it "completely rebuilt" there and then ship it back, how about figuring out how much that is going to cost you, then employ one of the guy on here to do the same job in the USA? That way, it stays an "old" vehicle in the eyes of the ...

Who Can Do Complete Pinzgauer Restorations?

I've been toying with the idea of a frame-off restoration for a 710M. The Puch factory in Austria has a program for complete restorations, and the gentleman I spoke with there was very enthusiastic they were willing to build any kind of 710M I want to brand new spec, and with any aftermarket parts I...

Re: Did The Pinz 710M Come With A Heater?

Today I received a reply from a gentleman name of Clint Lindsay, employee of the Import and Certification Division, Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Looks like sending a USA registered 710M to the Puch factory for a frame-off restoration is probs a...

Re: Electrical Upgrades For A Factory Restored 710M?

SNIP If and elegant Frankenstein is what you want, Buy a Pinzgauer body and put it on a modern jeep/Land Rover chassis. x2 It is one thing to rebuild it to factory new condition with some updates vs a resto mod Rebuilt to factory new with some needed upgrades would seem to be the best option. Thank...

Re: New to the board, air suspension modified M710

So how much would a 710M need to be lowered, especially at the rear, to insure a tire's tread is flush with the road and wearing evenly?

Re: Electrical Upgrades For A Factory Restored 710M?

Back to the original question... I would downlighting 24v LEDs at each door like a modern car as well as an interior light switched by the rear door. I know these can easily be added, but why not have them installed. I've been considering this, actually. But since I would be spending a huge amount ...

Re: Fan alternatives?

Perhaps tellingly, Jack Raby (R.A.T.) is no longer willing to balance Pinz fan blades (or at least refused to the last time I inquired). He said he was afraid of damage to his machine if one did let go. I found Jack Raby to be a rather self-important sort, and generally unpleasant. Many people in t...

Re: Pinzgauer On Curvy Roads

My $.02. I decided to run around "T" style while I repainted and repaired my bed panels. 575855_309141509214815_1351258702_n.jpg The lack of weight in the rear brought new meaning to the words "panic stop". Removing the rear roll member, canvas, and bow supports makes a minimal ...
