Re: High idle speed.

There is a gasket under the idle adjustment (small round piece that moves when you pull the "choke" out). That small round piece is notorious for getting a warp in it, check to make sure it's flat, and make sure the gasket is in good standing. This causes lot's of carb issues. Also, check ...

Re: Truck died

When you get a new pump, change out all the hoses. It's cheap, easy to do, and you can upgrade to an ethanol friendly hose. Sometimes just messing around in there will knock lose gunk in the lines, which then can clog pumps, carbs, all sort of things. I recently switched over to an electrical pump a...

Re: Troubleshooting with Pinz SSI

I would think the easiest would be to get one of those infrared temp guns and see if there is a difference in the exhaust temperatures.

Re: Ok second one I have seen in just the last month

I have something very similar that came along with my truck when I bought it, but I don't believe it has initials, I need to check. I got my truck in Quartzite AZ, so maybe a local welder?

Re: Cooling Fan Shims

I ended up using 4 full size shims for a new SAV belt, I could probably have gotten away with three, but I figure it's better to go loose (within spec) than too tight. I will keep en eye on this as the belt breaks in and adjust as needed. Super easy to do!

Re: steering gear box

Head on over to the "tech sessions" part of this form, there is a really great write up with pictures on how to do this repair, the post is "Steering box rebuild" I would guess that is your issue.

Cooling Fan Shims

I had a fan detonate on me last week (operator error, sound insulation gone crazy... don't ask)... I got a new fan in, along with a new belt, might as well upgrade right? Thankfully the fan came off easy, not over tightened, but there are ZERO shims located on my truck... Would have been nice if the...

Re: Steering wheel

Setting aesthetic aside for a minute, I have one of the earlier "smaller" type steering wheels and have had to wrap it in para-cord and add a cover to bulk up the size of the hoop. Without the added material, the truck would just wreck havoc on my hands when off road, I find the increased ...

Re: Loss of power/Stumbling....

I've never heard anything good about the flamethrower coils, found one that had been removed from the truck when I bought it, have read a few post that said they eventually fail.

Re: Young and Foolish? Talk me out of a 710 Pinz

Not sure about the specific England requirements but some thoughts. Just do it, once you get the bug, it's hard to shake. They are easy to work on if you are a novice, loads to learn. Not saying some components are not difficult (try swapping your front end springs) or overly heavy, but it's all man...

Re: 24V to 12V Converter - Lifespan?

I always avoided having a second battery, because I am old school and think of batteries as large clunky 12v car batteries. I never considered a lithium battery, would be way smaller.

Re: Reverse engagement

This was the first issue I had to deal with. The PO had a ritual to get the truck in reverse, I think there was a lot of praying involved. I grabbed the manual and noticed the stop plate. I adjusted little piece of metal under the truck, it's on the underside of the body, hard to miss. I forget the ...
