Re: Dog House Cracked

I crushed the back corner of mine and had some success using gaffers tape to hold it together. Was a temporary fix that sort of turned permanent (once I realized how much a new doghouse cost...) I would be interested in knowing if anyone else had a good repair option. Sadly, I think replacement is t...

Re: Start-up smoke mitigation

When I first got the Pinz and up until a few years ago, the truck would smoke and spray oil at start up. Not every single time, but enough that I would either push it out of the garage to start it or put a cardboard box (or something) to soak up the oil spray. I have assumed it was due to excessive ...

Re: Clutch failure survey

I have not suffered a clutch failure (yet) but am having a hard time with this notion of over-speed. I am a noob and pretty well self taught on driving a manual but it seems that coasting with the clutch disengaged (petal to the floor) is not the proper way to go down a hill or use a clutch. Not sur...

Re: GARAGE´S LINTEL TOO LOW

Airing up and down on the trail is next level stuff to a lot of people (at least to me). Compressors, electrical, etc.

I always liked Jim's suggestion of using a small CO2 bottle to refill tires, no compressor needed. Seemed like an elegant solution for a couple hundred bucks.

Re: Trailering a 710?

Absolutely agree with needing a bigger truck. I've got a 1500 and it worked with a U-haul trailer bringing the Pinz back home from Arizona but just barely. I had a nice pipe-top trailer that got stolen from me before I could use it to pull the Pinz. It was rated for 14,000# and was overkill, but the...

Re: My awesome 710K air conditioning installation.

I like how you "hid" the AC unit on the front. I never liked them on top, always a worry you could hit it on something. Looks cool, hopefully it leads to more use and less complaining from the kiddos!

Re: Buying this monstrosity...1983 Pinzgauer

Early on in my looking I lusted after that truck. Not sure what it is, the color, the cab? I passed on that one and have watched for 5+ years as many have passed before you. This may be an indication of something, lol... And as far as support, would love to help as many on here would, but I got no c...

Re: Water in Fuel

I would be curious to know if the truck was stored inside or outside? I have heard rumor that vehicles stored outdoors over the winter can build up water in their fuel tanks if the tanks are not absolutely full. Not sure if this is what you are dealing with, but worth a thought. I don't think you wo...

Re: 24V System Charging Help

One of my winter additions to the truck this year. I got tired of having to charge one battery at a time. I went with the "NOCO Genius GENM2 8 Amp 2-Bank On-Board Battery Charger" Made up a small mounting plate (attached to the bolts that go through to the tool box) and everything fits in ...

Re: Sitting 4+ years, checklist for resurrection...

And please don't take this the wrong way, more of an FYI. Consensus is that the front hitch is not a great place to tie down a pinz while on a trailer. Too much downward pressure on that and it will warp the front end, pop the front doors. There are some good tie down points on the axles, you do hav...

Re: Sitting 4+ years, checklist for resurrection...

In addition to everything already mentioned. I would be looking real hard at the fuel lines and filter providing the gas to the carbs. Not a lot of tubing, or overly complex, but cracks or loose fittings can make starting a real PITA, since the pump has to lift the fuel from the tank to the carbs, a...
