Re: UK owners- change in date for road tax exemption

Hey...Pinzhappy...looks like I missed you by just a few years.........I emigrated to Poland with my Pinz 710 some 5 years ago.......I used to live in Swindon and play on Salisbury Plain......back in the days when you could roam all over the Plain. Now I have tracks and lanes enough to keep my happy ...

Re: Pinzgauer Cost in 70s?

Not a cheap truck.......but have you ever tried to drill through a bulkhead on a Pinz?? that metal is pure quality.....in fact everything about it is pure quality....I suppose that's why the great cost.

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Thanks Clive......mine don't look so different to yours.......my bump stops are a little closer to the bottom.......I,ll persevere a bit longer before I think about doing anything drastic like changing them for stronger longer springs.

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Hmmm, perhaps gutless was a badly thought out word........It has plenty of low end grunt, you just have to pick the right gear and be brave enough to let it lug down to its happy place and it will then keep on grinding forward......I,ve never managed to stall it!!!! it will hit a place where it can ...

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Heavier than stock!!! I'll say, but to be honest, The Pinzmeister did a superb job with this engine...it may be one of the heaviest of the bunch, but it has no electronics, no turbo and is well known as an unkillable engine, it may seem gutless on hills but it was designed for abuse and can be revve...

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Thanks for the opinion Jimm, I don't do much loaded, in fact bar the shopping I don't carry much in the Pinz at all......the pinz is just a fun truck, the Unimog carries anything that is heavy or bulky. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it straight away........I don't feel the Pinz bottom out eve...

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Can anyone give me an opinion...are my front springs compressed? The bump stop has 1 mm gap.....see pics..she seems to sit OK on the flat, but if facing downhill is very nose down and splayed.....The reverse rims fitted by OP don't help that look.

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

The US army used to park things in strange places.....one dark morning way back I woke up in my 9x9 tent which was on the back of my shiny new (week old) Landrover 110 on the Salisbury Plain exercise area.......and just above my head something obviously hard was sticking into the tent, hadn't quite ...

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

OK David I'll join soon, but trust me as an ex member of the British Army, If you need an artillery piece to tow, or anything for that matter, I always found that all you have to do would be to wait until the appropriate unit is on exercise (manouvers) and just roll up dressed in cammo and hook up a...

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Before I left UK I did see a few of the newer 718 Pinzgauers on and around Salisbury Plain military area......they all seemed to have that slight 'nose up' stance.....I will look up the Turbo D files and start my investigations.......good idea to get the longest pin and then grind down to suit.........

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Thanks for your always much respected input David.....but I didn't really give the whole picture......if I did you would laugh.....no seriously, my pinz actually looks comical, like one of those cartoon 'cars' with it's front wheels splayed out at the bottom. Now I know the situation is not helped b...

Re: Uprated Front Springs ??

Thanks Geneva, I suspect these springs are what I need, that 6 cyl VW lump they first put in the diesel Pinz was probably nearly as heavy as mine, so I will have to look to getting a pair, or at least comparing prices with what it would take to re-temper mine here. (Poland is having a 'spat' with US...

Uprated Front Springs ??

Are uprated front springs available for older Pinzgauers? I ask because with my OM 602 diesel conversion and and reversed rims (PO) the front has settled a bit and makes for a very twitchy drive.....nothing I can't handle, but I would like to make it better, so has anyone ever marketed uprated sprin...
