Re: Cooking without fire, gas or electricity

I was chatting to a Russian trucker way back in the 70's......he had a stainless steel box with a lid which clamped onto his exhaust pipe up near the engine.....It would cook stew, pies in fact anything that could be fitted into the box.

Re: Cruiser pick-up

Re: Luaz 1302

There are a couple of them round here.......look interesting but if you search vids on You Tube they do not seem to be all that good off road due to those tiny wheels and they are a small vehicle, one of the ones round here is regularly parked up next to a 6x6 Kraz Tipper you can imagine how small t...

Re: 50+ year old Land rover 2a diesel (63rover) and my 79 -7

Welcome...you lovely Series 2 Landrover makes me sad because it reminds me of the one that I totally rebuilt in the couple of years before emigrating to Poland....I wish I had known as I rebuilt it that I was going to make the move, I would have done a LHD conversion and it would still be with me. M...

Re: Tire chain install

Living on a very steep hill here in Poland I used the chains 2 years ago when we had very bad snow.......but these chains are not really designed for roads, they are off road chains and if you hit stretches of tarmacadam, even if negotiated very slowly they will wear very quickly. Poland is somethin...

Re: Pinny & the UK Floods

A U1300L with its pressurised axles and gearboxes is good in floods too (you have to stay in 4x4 but that is not a problem on a big Mog) Some relief organisation are using a white one.

Re: UAZ 469

Anytime Genevapinz, I am into diesel transplants big time......I forgot to mention that my Pinz has a Mercedes OM 602 5 cyl diesel from a sprinter and the 5 speed gearbox from that same vehicle. It is not a ball of fire, but it is reliable, starts easily (after 10 seconds heater plugs) in -30C and i...

Re: UAZ 469

I have a U1300L a 710K and a UAZ 469b circa 1980s. My UAZ is a full metal rebuild with an Andoria 4C90 diesel engine. OK easiest way is to say that the UAZ is comparable to a series Landrover and actually slightly more capable off road. Just like a Landrover if you drive a beat up example that is ne...

Re: A tale of different cultures

The parts just arrived!!!!! they charged the Zloti equivalent of 60 Pounds Sterling as an import tax to release the items???? Boy have these Poles got a hate on America???? but is that EU induced or is it just a Polish thing? Bear in mind that we were told that if we were judged to be a 'business' (...

Re: A tale of different cultures

Thanks guys you have cheered me up a bit.......no I am not soured to Poland, remember I came from UK and there are more places (lanes and tracks) to offroad in just this 'county' (Podkarpacie) than in the whole of the United kingdom of England, Scotland and Wales......so I do get offroad a lot.........

Re: New (to me) 710M!

Welcome......but do drive it on those maloya tyres......they will teach you just how tyres should not behave on a road (they are fine off road) put on some other tyres (I run Goodyear G90 7.50Rx16 great on road and off) almost any other tyres will make it handle and drive better than those Maloyas, ...
