Re: Frothy hubs
Don't forget that oil sits on water so the froth may be at the top but there is likely water pooled at the bottom too. Best to fully drain, spray well with wd40 to get the water out and then refill with Hi-hypoid 80-90. I like to add Lucas additive to hubs, diffs, etc. too. Change it to whatever you...

Re: Catalytic converter and stench
Keep in mind that misfires and backfires kill cats. The matrix collapses and plugs the pipe. If you add a cat be prepared to be very patient warming the engine up before driving to avoid the popping that will destroy a cat. Another concern would be placement with sufficient heat shielding. Likely it...

Re: 4x4 Expo in Baytown, TX
We get it. Most of us are so busy grinning that our faces hurt to think of photos. Try taking a friend who is so into photography enough that getting the photo outweighs the fun of riding in the truck. I know it sounds impossible but if you start planning now you may find you have one when you need ...

Re: Rear diff light won't come on
By the way: "Just a thought ... use your own turkey baster not the one from the kitchen." Don't worry! Brake fluid is water soluble. Just put it in the dish washer. Works for getting the kerosene off cleaned parts too but I did learn from watching my father that the results are better (qui...

Clutch assembly placement
I am working on placing clutch assemble in the engine to transmission adapter I am building. Does anyone know how far the clutch assembly protrudes forward of the engine to transmission mount? It appears that the original engine side has a lip which fits into the transmission. The measurement I need...

Cap Accessories
Found and bought these on ebay recently. Thought they made a nice addition to my Swiss Pinzgauer's history. The Austrian cap badge for its origin and the Swiss for its service home.

Re: Finally took the dive and got a pinz!
Welcome! Great looking truck! Re backfire: if it's very loud look into it however moderate coughing and farting as an air cooled engine warms up is not uncommon or cause for concern. Mine does it too and so does my old '71 BMW motorcycle. With no catalytic convertors to worry about it's not an issue...

I thought I heard that but it may be wrong. As Farley Mowatt put it I don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Re: Question about Fuel Injection
I find the Pinzgauer quite quick when compared to my 63 diesel Land Rover. It topped out at 40 before the new diffs (does 50 now on the level). Honestly it is what it is. If you tweak the engine you will inevitably shorten its longevity. Consider the Jag v12. It can be set up to provide great fun fo...

Re: Leaning towards the driver's side
If a vehicle is driven by one person for most of its life it develops a left lean from the uneven loading and wear in the springs. This is especially noticeable with older leaf spring as the internal rust starts to make them bind. Approximately 200 lbs bouncing on one side takes its toll. Ser...

Re: 24v fuel pump and regulator
The fuel isn't draining back. It's evaporating. I had some older vehicles that had manual prime levers for just that problem. Has anyone heard of a pump with a lever that would fit? My truck runs into this problem too in about three or four days between the summer heat and living in it's shipping co...
