Re: Another great time with the Ottawa Valley Land Rover Clu
They run great events and welcome "other" vehicles. Toronto Rover Adventure Club is worth following too. Some drive in from Montreal and even Ohio too.
Oh yes, and far off Barrie! (right Josh?!)

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning!" Takes you back...
For me it's diesel smoke and memories of farming and old Land Rovers.

Re: Big smoke, big oil mess, big problem! Advice/confirmati
Glad to hear you are rolling again. Let me know when you might headed in the direction of the Hamilton Airport. I live close to it and the local Legion is a good place for lunch and a beverage. Cheers, Clive PS If we set a date with enough notice maybe the others in southern Ont. might join in. Any ...

Re: Valve Stem Seal Replacement
I have the best luck with 15w40 Rotella and Lucas additive.
As for the stench, no cat in the exhaust = smellier exhaust. Imagine what the city streets smelt like in the 60s and early 70's! No one needed to do any more than breath deeply to get high.

Re: rub rails
This is lighter version of mine but does the same thing. http://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/45-pc-threaded-insert-and-riveting-tool-kit/A-p2925204e As said the holes are evenly spaced. A forstner bit took care of the counter sink. I used stainless machine screws and stainless washers too. Cheers,...

That's true for carbon but not much help with oil.

Re: rub rails
I finally have a photo of last summer's handy-work. The new rails are white oak with tung oil finish. The finish is perfect. If it starts to fade I just add more oil and wipe the excess of the next day. Screws are now stainless and missing trapped nuts have been replaced with hollow center rivets th...

I have a similar problem with mine. JB Weld is great for building up old castings.

Speedometer issue
Hello all. The speedo on my 710 m '79 reads a consistent 80% of my actual speed. Are there two different speedos for the 710 and 712? Could I have the wrong one? I took it out this weekend with my GPS and found the consistent error. No wonder I was getting dirty looks and finger gestures when I woul...
Re: High idle
Yet another thought,
Try reconnecting all of the linkage and without starting it pump the pedal 2 or 3 times. If something is just sticking it may free it up and allow the springs to shut everything down to normal.

Re: Long downhill descents fouling plugs?
20w50 is heavier and should be fine. Try adding a quart of Lucas additive.
Re: High idle
You may be onto something with the fuel bowl level. Could it be that your shut off valves (or one of them) may be not seating properly and even with properly adjusted floats you are getting too much fuel. After sitting overnight does the truck start at the high idle speed and stay there or does it s...
