Re: Finished my pinzssi install - feedback and first impres

The SSI 'distributor' can be rotated to advance/retard the timing. It has it's own timing light built in, a small LED that lights up when the sensor is triggered. Due to the wasted spark system it does not even need to be matched for a compression stroke, just any old TDC will do. Very easy to set t...

Wow. Incredible attention to detail. Great thread. Like many others I seem to missed this in the diesel section.

Might have to drop in on my next trip 'home' for a look in person

Unfortunately I do not have a base line to compare to.

And I discovered my fuel pump is not working and the front carb is leaking.

One day I will get there

Re: Battery Switch - replacement specs

Hi David.

Yes, the relay is still there. It seems they simply removed the isolator and joined the negative straps together.

Since my new lever is removable, I think I will use it as a 'key' to help prevent some dirt bag try to drive off in my truck.

Re: Tachometer

Just use this one from SAV http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.php?cat=pinzgauer&partno=SAV1404 I saw that one, but from above Jim said this : That 12v VDO tach is a pile of crap  Spend the extra few bucks and get a 24v one from aircraft spruce. Every 12v VDO tach I have installed or ad...

again SAV http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.php?cat=pinzgauer&partno=7111850180/ Thanks, but I guess you missed this bit : I would rather buy an equivalent locally rather than pay air freight. I pay $10 US / pound for getting stuff here. I went to a truck parts store and asked for the most h...

Re:

Good to hear you got it working. It seems that the 12v VDO tach is more responsive/accurate when truck is equiped with Pertronix module VS points. Here is a lnk to a nice tach/hr meter. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/digiTachometer.php Jim, The link you provided is a 404. Could you p...

Battery Switch - replacement specs

My Pinz came without the battery switch, I guess they took all the expensive elec bits for spare parts before they decommissioned it. I have holes in the floor behind the drivers seat. Does anyone have the specs for a replacement unit, such as the maximum volt and amp rating? I would rather buy an e...

Re: Pinzgauer Solid State Ignition Systems

I just installed mine yesterday. Took about 6-8 hours total, but I did have other missing electrical components that needed wiring. Engine ran for the first time in my possession, but now I need to fix the non-pumping fuel pump and the leaky carbs. Installation was very easy mechanically, moderate t...

Yellow and black is not a colour combo I had considered, but it looks pretty tight.
