Re: Help me diagnose a rough idle
I would treat your gas for water. The seals on top of the gas tank were originally made of cork. If yours have not been changed, I can guarantee there is water in there. In my experience it can make the motor miss.

How a diff works
For some of you (probably many) this will be a big "duh". For me, it was really a remarkable illustration even though it was done in 1937! See if you agree. Stay with it for the first few minutes, they chose a novel way to open the film! http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/a15829/1937-fil...

Re: Driving with parking brake engaged
I had nearly the same experience today. Except you didn't mention the smoke! It appeared that with all the sand and grit from off roading I have done this year that the mechanism was balky after I released the brake. A quick spray of some penetrating oil and a couple taps with the tool box hammer se...

I'm running two yellow top Ultimas. I have a 24 volt winch on the front and wanted to have some deep power. They have lasted over five years and are still strong.

Re: How far do people routinely drive their Pinzgauers?
I noticed several posters mentioned hearing protection associated with long drives. Early on in my ownership of my truck a friend introduced me to sound proofing materials we used to take much of the high-pitched gear noise out of the truck. This stuff is rubberized asphalt that comes in sheets that...

Re: Timing - running better - still backfires
Yes, they do. To check them you turn the key to the on position. Then unplug the electrical connection from each valve and then tap it back against to terminal. You should hear a clear click as the solenoid clicks open. No click, then the solenoid is probably stuck closed and is cutting off fuel to ...

Re: Broken Front Spring Cup
So, the solution included letting the axle hang with the limit strap and shock removed. We were not able to pry open a space to fit the tool. However, when we used the spring compressor on the coils, instead of the spring cup, we were able to pull down enough to get space between the cup and the tub...

Broken Front Spring Cup
The right front spring cup has rotted out and now is flush up gainst the tub. I have the original Pinz spring compressor tool which, from the manual, is meant to grab both the bottom and top cups and to fit with each hook arm 180 degrees from the other on opposite sides of the spring. My problem is ...

Re: Engine stalled, now won't start
I had a Petronix go bad on me very early on (10 years ago) when I first had my truck. If you pull the distributor cap you will see the unit nestled inside. Mine had charred wires coming out of it. At the time, we thought water may have gotten to it. It was easy to replace. I just copied the original...

I'm sorry if this is such a basic suggestion; but, have you checked the distributor cap and rotor?
