Re: Transfer case lever/cable connection

For the stuck screws and bolts a good machinist trick is a solution of equal parts of automatic transmission fluid and acetone. Stinks but works better than anything else. Impact screwdriver (hit with a hammer) is great too. I even removed damaged Philips head screws from motorcycle engine casings w...

Re: Transfer case lever/cable connection

I've run into similar problems with seldom used clevis points on the range shift of a Land Rover Discovery. A simple solution once the offending part is freed and working soak it with Fluid Film spray until it is dripping off. Fluid Film will lubricate and seal the joint, cable, or whatever and make...

I found a suction cup to the wind-shield type. Unfortunately it fell off on the first significant bump. Now it is back on with some high quality silicon in the cup. No problems now. $5 at the local surplus store. (Princess Auto)

Re: New vibrations...and tranny fluid problem..thoughts?

I was just reading about Lucas Hub Oil for heavy trucks. It is a heavy weight oil which also stops seal leakage. It may do the trick and be an easier fix than wrenching. If you check the oil level through the filler you can get an idea of how much has been lost. You may get away with using the Lucas...

Re: Chemistry question

Flask! Now, I like that idea! How about a good sized stainless steel pocket flask for liquor? Mine has an O-ring seal which should be no problem or easily replaced. It has the profile you want too. Just don't forget poison labelling! ( XXX or a Jolly Roger could be misleading! ) The smell shou...

Re: Chemistry question

How about a stainless steel water bottle instead? On second thought, a camper's fuel bottle may be better and has a small hole just below the O-ring to release pressure as it is opened. Personally, I carry a 1L (about a quart) of additive in the brick shaped bottle it comes in from TSC along with a ...

Hotwheels prototype?!

BTW Am I the only one who can't understand why a North American company can't make our style licence plates fit on the body without flapping in the breeze? How many of those get ripped off on the trail?

Re: raise the back of a 712......

A good truck spring shop should be able to make and install a helper spring to the rear leaf spring set-up. Only raising the truck will not increase load handling capabilities. Overloaded springs are more likely to break. A helper or extra leaf should solve your problem. It may be also worth having ...

Re: Won't Start - No Electric Power

Have you checked the circuit breakers? Is power getting to them? Is it getting to the main cut-off switch? And through it? A test light sounds like your new best friend. By the way you should check to see that the batteries are still functional too. 24 volts and likely over 1000 amps is enough to ki...

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's

You may want to check these out. Much less expensive. $73 Cdn each. https://www.canadawheels.ca/Steel---Acier-Premium-wheel-15-inch-Black-4X98-14956 Bead lockers are not really needed on Hafi and Pinz as airing down is very dangerous with radials which grab rather than slide like bias ply tyres did....

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's

It took patience, but after a year of watching kijiji I found a full set of 13" off a Fiat X19. The next day I got 4 155/80 Winterforce tires M+S (I've had these on my LR Discovery as winters for years and loved them.) brand new. Just have to make the time to collect the rims from a friend who ...

These and diesel Defenders are available from France (same seller for both) through Ailbaba at a more reasonable price.
