Re: Leaking Hub
Sam, Sorry, it's been a while for me. I'd guess 15, 16 and 17 to begin with. I'd inspect the bearings too, as long as you're in there. I also recall some upgraded version of the lock plate shown as 22 & 23. I suggest a search for the specifics of replacing the seals, etc., as I recall this being...

Bob's 710 on Ebay in Wis.
Belongs to Bob, near Milwaukee. I'm not familiar with it, but he's had some nice stuff from time to time.

Re: Pinzgauer 710
So, we're all agreed then? It's a "parts" truck, at best? Heck, you could sell the battery box and door to the other member of this board,Gadgetphreak, that crushed his. See, your already making money on it. So, it's no longer a $1000 truck. It's a $1000 truck minus what you make selling t...

Re: Leaking Hub
Sam, Don't let the job put you off. IIRC, the only touchy part is pulling a gear, and for that you need a particular sort of puller. But you don't need the Pinz tool. I bought a puller at Harbor Trash https://www.harborfreight.com/gear-puller-set-15-pc-62958.html , slightly ground down the arms, and...

Re: Leaking Hub
Sam, Thanks for the pics, though I still had trouble orienting. Here's my guess. I assume it's gear lube, and not brake fluid - a quick sniff will determine this. It looks to me like the fluid is on the inboard side (towards center of vehicle) of the wheel-drive. There is a small weep-hole through t...

Re: Leaking Hub
Sam,
I don't understand your description of the location of the leak. But I'm not aware of any potential leak spot that can be fixed with sealant. Seals and o-rings are what keep the gear lube in it's place. I suspect one or more have failed.
Got a picture of the area you're looking at?

Reminds me of a song about a thousand dollar car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzim1iYhmGA "A thousand dollar car ain't never gonna roll, until you go at least another thousand in the hole. Sink your money in it, and there you are, the owner of a two thousand dollar thousand dollar car. The ...

That's nice to know.
Even nicer would be the part #, etc., for others to reference to as well.

Re: My locks are corroded, no keys
A buddy of mine picked up an giant, ancient, nibbler recently in a junkyard. It'd been sitting outside for years and was all corroded and the nibbler pin was frozen. He built a big electrolysis tank and soaked it overnight. The next morning it all came apart easily. Methinks that process might work ...
