Re: Electric steering for 710/712s

For those with the horn button blues with the EZ Powersteering. This is a direct fit, and solves the problem. It might also be of interest to those without the power steering as well. Grant Part #5899 - Between $8-12 EVERYWHERE........ Also easily customizable as this is the button that is being use...

Re: Electric steering for 710/712s

The EZ converter being supplied by the manufacturer (if purchased) is a 60A peak unit, and does not have any problem handling the installs that we have done with it. Considering the main power supply line is fused with a 40 amp fuse, I would tend to think that 40 is adequate. 90A should be more than...

Re: Electric steering for 710/712s

On the ones we have installed we have shortened the bottom connector of the horn button with a grinder. It's tight, but still enough meat for the set screw to hold the ground wire, and clear the column. This is an area that will be addressed in future units either by a different horn button, or clea...

Re: Electric steering for 710/712s

Hi Guys, What we find is that a majority of customers who are installing are not really involved in this community. Tour operators, etc..... We are pleased with the end product and continue to install them in our trucks. Currently have a couple available at the shop available for test drives. My web...

Re: Austrian spec shift linkage

Hi Guys a couple things at play here when we talk about the shifting on the Pinzgauers. #1 - Condition of the gearbox - Bottom line, a tight fresh box will have a crisper feel than a well used box. #2 - Replace the Heim Joint on the end of the shifter rod. I cannot count the number of times trucks c...

Re: The Mother of All Barn Finds

After the auction they said it was OK to publish and we forgot. Came across the photo's looking for something else. Very little in common with the production trucks other than general layout. Couple of photo's below but there is a photobucket with 89 pictures: http://s250.photobucket.com/user/expedi...

Re: 712K

About a dozen 712K's through the shop over the last 18 months. The 712K currently at our shop is waiting for a power steering install and will be picked up by the new owner before we leave for Overland Expo West. There are two more inbound 712K's containerized this week headed for the shop with arri...

Re: 712 on the Rubicon?

Your parts retailers are standing by.....:) Fuel Tank, Battery Box/Tool Box, Oil Pan, Tie Rods are the most common problem areas. No question it can be done and if done carefully/properly with little/no damage. It's definitely not the preferred terrain for the Pinz. If you get damaged beyond repair,...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaners

Hi Guys, We were not pleased with our ultrasonic cleaner. Spent roughly 3K with cleaner and special solvents to purchase a unit. Spent lots of tech time with the manufacturer, never got the quality or clean that we got out of straight up old school carb cleaner dunk tanks. Ended up letting a buddy b...

Re: FOR SALE: 1989 PUCH 300GD

Let their be no question the Puch G and the Mercedes G are the SAME vehicle. The Steyr Puch Plant in Graz built the 2 vehicles on the same line......slightly different badging. That is it. In regards to CA...and Diesel...your cutoff for grey market is 1979. 1980 and EPA testing would be required. Sc...

It's a small group at this point. 8 units have been delivered and or installed in North America. 2 to Portland Oregon, 2 In Prescott AZ, (1 already installed and Thilo is installing the other), 2 to Fat Fabrications (1 already installed and Andre is installing the other) and a couple of individuals....

Re: Scott at Expedition Imports

We are hoping to get to NWMF, but this year it may be tight......

We have the MVPA Convention August 11-13 here in the Bay Area and we are exhibiting. If we make it to NWMF, it will probably be just a fly in for the weekend, not setting up and bringing vehicles.

We will see.......

Cheers,

Scott

Re: Scott at Expedition Imports

Hi Guys, We appreciate the kind words. We do the best we can with our available time. Sometimes we exceed the expectations and sometimes we fall short. It's the nature of the beast....... regardless, we do it because we enjoy what we do. If you guys are ever in the Bay Area, drop us a line and come ...
