I recently wrote an article in the Tech Sessions sharing my experience of rebuilding the fuel pump. Then I received a PM querying my use of grease around the lever and pointing out that the repair manual says to fill the base of the pump with grease, which I didn't do.
Can someone clarify this part? Then I'll edit the tech article if necessary.
Fuel Pump Lubrication
Re: Fuel Pump Lubrication
The little plate that you remove in order to knock the shaft (guts) out...pack it full of grease when you are going back together with it. My pump was not causing pressure issues but was very noisy and after the rebuild and grease trick...silence! Good luck and you can do this without removing the pump.
Re: Fuel Pump Lubrication
Roverchef, thank you for your input.
I packed grease from the bottom of the pump while it was removed, which would grease the same area so that's good. I wouldn't want to mislead anyone with my tech article.
BTW, 2 weeks later the engine is still running fine and I haven't noticed any noise from the pump.
