Back to the SSI system... the website mentions plugging the vacuum line, but not reconnecting it to anything. Does the new distributor not use vacuum to determine the load on the engine? Does it advance purely on the preprogrammed curve? How easy is it to change between curves? Say for example off-roading in 1 curve and then switching to another for the highway back home?

No, engine vacuum is not required for the system to work. The module advances timing based on RPM only, just like the stock distributor. The advance curve switch can be switched at any engine speed, and on the fly. The curve charts are now on the website, the link is on the home page. The module itself is completely programmable, the cable to connect your laptop to the module is $135. The software is free.

Is that via a laptop or is there an actual switch which is located somewhere accessible? I really like the sound of this system since it combines a lot of different pieces in one package.

It mounts in place of the upper bracket that the windshield washer bottle hangs from. I gave up my washer bottle but with some modification you could probably have both. In 7 years I've never used the windshield washer so i just stored it away.

I finally have mine up and running and just had a few mile drive. After an initial hiccup with the unit, I'm very impressed. Drive-ability is vastly improved. Smooth acceleration through the whole rpm range and NO stumble in the middle of the intersection when accelerating from a stop. While my drive was purely on-road so far, I'm anticipating similar response offroad on the torquey climbs. I'm really happy and can't wait for the weekend to give it a workout.
