Low idle, almost stalling

Dumb question, but is there a way to adjust gas cable to adjust idle or do I have to adjust the carbs. If carb adjustment is needed, what screw needs adjusting. If I could tighten the gas cable a hair, it would idle perfect. Thank you. Zig

The idle is not adjusted by the "gas cable" or, in the case of the pinz, the linkages - it should actually be adjusted with the linkages removed from the carbs!

The idle is set with the two stop screws which adjust the amount of the butterfly that is open. Since there are dual carbs you also need to "sync" them with a tool that measures the air flow through each carb at idle.

The two idle mixture screws also need to be adjusted as well - which will impact the idle speed - so its a round - and - round type of process to get it all setup right.

There are lots of posts on this and the manuals are really useful also for this...

If (big if) the idle is good once the motor has warmed up and you just want to facilitate a high idle to warm the motor up you can use the hand throttle. pull it out to the desired rpm than twist it to lock it, just remember to release it. And no the hand throttle should not be used as a cruse control.

or just follow Haf-e's advice. :D
