Pulling bottom pulley
I’ve read that some people were able to pull the pulley by hand while others needed to use a puller.
If it comes to that, what kind of puller should I use?

Re: Pulling bottom pulley
I've built this extracting tool.
Be careful, cast iron is brittle, avoid sharp hedges, protect with rubber.
I did not break the pulley with the extracting tool but when I was trying to hold it in place to remove the nut.
Carefully mark the position it is mounted in, because there is a keyway in there, it has to go back in the same position and mine was very tight, it was not possible to feel if the key was engaged while tapping it in.

Re: Pulling bottom pulley
Thanks for the pic.
Did you use any kind of loc-tite on the bolt?
How did you hold pulley/crank while you torqued the bolt?

A bit of green loctite yes.
To remove the nut, I used the starter and a long wrench, pictured here :

I meant how did you hold the pulley/crank while you tightened the bolt?

Re: Pulling bottom pulley
Have you tried with the gearbox in 5th? Does the clutch slip before you reach final torque?

Re: Pulling bottom pulley
Oh. Yeah. I forgot to ask. Regular threads(normal directions) on both fan and crank?

Re: Pulling bottom pulley
For the crank, I don't remember, but if you look at the picture I linked on the German forum above , you can deduct the thread direction from the position of my wrench and the normal sense of rotation of the engine.rollingpinz wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 10:10 am Oh. For the fan, I'm not entirely sure, I did it last summer, I think it's a normal thread. Hope someone can confirm.
