I've read several posts about carb rebuilds including a lengthy post from LindenEngineering. I'm fairly confident my driveability issues and lack of power are carb related.
I am unable to match the carbs without a significant idle screw adjustment to the rear (and the front ALL the way out), raising my idle VERY high. I also have some looseness in the carb shafts which wind up giving me a slightly higher idle when i come to a stop. A quick blip of the throttle will lower the idle back to normal.
If i cover the rear carb, the engine will run rough. If i cover the front carb, the engine stalls.
I'd like to determine if its a bad adjustment to the idle mixture screws. possibly the accelerator pump, etc. or if in fact, worn butterflies. Is there an easy way?
How do i determine if carbs need a rebuild or bad adjustment
