Engine Thread Repair

Post by NC_Mog »

I tried to reinstall the two bolts that backed out from the oil pump. I found that the first one has the threads stripped out from the block. The one that stripped is the one of the holes near the gears with the locating sleeve. Also, the other hole appears to have threads intact, but they seem a little loose till the bolt bottoms out.

Does anyone have a recommended/preferred thread repair for the aluminum block?

Time sert is best, but Helicoil will also work.

Jim, do you know what size the counter bores typically are? The one that stripped is the one that has the dowl sleeve so its recessed a bit.
