This vehicle is the only one I have ever encountered that hangs a heavy starter motor from a rubber mount. Seeing as the only ones available seem to be second-hand and thus liable to split like the original, I was wondering whether to machine a solid mount - I'm sure the rubber engine mounts would help damp the torque whilst cranking
Was thinking of milling an aluminium plate to the required thickness and installing M12 countersunk bolts to take the weight.
The only other option I have at the moment is to bolt the original mount back on with some longer bolts and washers to hold the outer plate on as the rubber is completely separated
