Question about Air Intake Seal Ring for carb rebuild

Post by undysworld »

I'm getting ready to rebuild my carbs, and have ordered the parts needed (so far). SAV shows some seals between the carburetors and the air intake box above them. My truck didn't have any, so I ordered a pair. Part# 64 here:

http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.ph ... 121081281/

But now that I've got 'em, I'm stumped as to how they install. The manual seems to show it with the flange down. I can't fit the seal within either the box nor the carb, so it seems like it must fit around them, but then I don't see how it provides any "seal". My setup looks just like this one:

Instead of anything which resembles the part/s I got, I've got a smaller seal which fits into a small groove within the air intake box, which is only visible with the box off. They seem to make contact with the top of the carbs. (Maybe part# 63 shown above? But SAV doesn't even list those.)

I assume others have ordered these parts. Can you shed any light on this, or have advice?

I can always call SAV in the morning, but being too hot out today, I'm trying to kill some time indoors and getting antsy.

Two different air box designs(MK1, MK2)
Early uses a square cut O ring, Later uses the boot seal :)

Thanks Jim. Boy, that's my luck.

I found 'em on EI's site, but no price, etc...?

Willy didn't stock those, if I understood him correctly.

Any idea who sells those old-style seals?
