So we are back to feeeeeeeeeeeeeezing cold here in the Yukon.
I went back to straight 30 weight for the summer...but it is WAY TOO thick for winter. The poor ol girl is having a heck of a time.
20 50 was recommended years ago (Castrol GTX - I think).
85-90 for gear oil too.....I have to put the tranny in neutral and the gear shift in 2nd gear when I warm her up just to get her to move properly.
Any suggestions......Synthetics are not the answer right...not unless you rebuild.

guess I am going with 5W-30 then soon as the filter arrives.

Jer , I ran synthetic 5W-50 last year and didn't have any engine grief. The rest of the gear boxes were slow to warm though.

Thanks - I have some leaks so I wasn't prepeared to run synthetic for the motor. Gear oil is sure thick though
