2.5Ltr Life Span???

Post by Roverchef »

What can one expect to get in terms of mileage out of one of these motors? This is under the assumption that the engine was well cared for and services were done religiously. I may have found a pinzy for a decent price but the mileage is higher then I like. Thanks in advance!

My understanding of milage on a pinz is a relative thing. If a speedo was replaced it would mean nothing in respect to milage.
It is the condition of the vehicle that is most important. Deal with someone that you can trust, the sponsors of the site come to mind.
If I am way off...please, someone chime in here.

I have heard in the past (I beleive it was maybe Jim L.) that he has seen pinzies with 50K run like crap and pinzies with 200K run great. It's all in maintenance, and as with any vehicle, you can never really verify it anyways. These things are 40 years old, good chance there has been minor to significant work on the mechanicals over time. My rule of thumb is to look for a well cared for physical specimen and you're apt to find a well cared for mechanical one.

The old phrase for Pinzes..
Don't worry about the year and mileage, "Let the Pinz speak for itself".

You can have a lot worse problems than a engine..
