#4 exhaust manifold is white

I pulled the exhaust manifold today and was surprised to find the #4 pipe is white while the other three are black. Is white too lean? or is black too rich? Also, #4 is the one that had the leak. I'll post a pic later. Thanks for input.

Others will have to comment on whether it's to lean or not. But I have noticed mine assume the color of whatever color mud I was in when they were hit with it. Then the color baked on. Odds are that pipe was a lot colder than the others and assumed a different color. That must have been a bad leak!

Buzz he has the manifold removed and is looking at the inside of the exhaust ports.

In my opinion number 4 is running lean. Before replacing the manifold I would check the valve adjustment than do a compression test.

A quick search seems to suggest that the exhaust leak right at the head can cause a lean condition, but I'll pull the plugs to check.

Very possible, If the plugs are reasonably consistent all should be good.
