Pinz VDO Oil Temp Gauge

Post by Pinzi73 »

Does anyone know if there is a less expensive oil temp gauge available for a Pinz other than the one from Swiss Army Vehicles?

I don’t know if threes a less costly gauge however I question the usefulness of an oil temp gauge on a Pinzgaurer. Mine came with a VDO oil temp gauge installed by the previous owner, I’d be much more interested in cylinder head temperature. I suspect that with the Pinzgauer by the time you had excessive temperature showing on an oil temperature gauge any damage would already be done.

Must get hot in Mass.

I have driven in the desert when it was 115 F and the thing I was worried about was me getting hot, not the pinz.

I did have one on my Mog though and it was relatively useful in the desert and on extended drives.
Think I got it from SAV. If you are going to get something like that don't cheap out. Get a good one.

Where on the pan would you install it?

Haven't figured out a location. Since it is a VDO gauge, I thought it may be less expensive through a source like Jegs, but I don't know the actual VDO part number that SAV resells.

Can you install a CHT sensor under the spark plugs or is that a bad idea?
