Rotted hose

Post by Jack Russell Racing »

Does this explain why I've had an exceptionally cold winter in my Pinzguaer, or does it explain why I'm feeling light-headed after a short drive? Easy to swap out?

(just kidding, I'm not feeling light headed)

No - that extra outlet is for the pre-heater

You were cold because:
1. Pinz heater is a joke
2. Pinz is a soft top
3. Seems like the coldest winter in years :)

Yup - easy to swap out. Here's the part number: 7122190128/N plus 2 clamps if needed.

Yes it helps to explain lack of heat as i suspect that instead of the pre-heater outlet "outputting" hot air to the engine intake, cold air was being sucked in and passed to the cab heat hose.

4. lack of electrically heated clothing viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8735&hilit=electric

How does the pre-warmer affect his warmth in the cab?
Did I miss something?

Years ago I wrapped my hoses to the cap with insulation...improves the heat transfer to the cab tremendously.

I'll get a replacement ordered today. Looks to be cheap as chips.

In the meantime, I just cut it cleanly and reattached it with the existing band clamp out in our parking lot. I've sent a coworker out to pick up some lunch in the Pinz, and he'll report back shortly on whether it is any warmer. Outside temps today are < 40dF.

Probably wouldn't notice much distance if its a relatively short trip.

Here's the update: Massive difference in heating! Seems like within 2 minutes of engine start, there is HOT air coming from the vents. Almost warm enough to roast a marshmallow -- and certainly warm enough that gloves and a jacket are no longer needed. Thermal expansion of the windscreen glass and dashboard instruments are a serious possibility.

.

Actually, its still stone cold. :) But at least my hose isn't flopping in the wind.
