Goatwerks / Jim LaGuardia experience

I wanted to relate the previous positive experience that I had with Jim LaGuardia of Goatwerks. I took my 1974 710m to him to have him check out the excessive smoking from the engine, plus look at a few other things.

He checked everything out, and ended up installing intake valve seals, replacing all severely worn push rods, adjusted the valves, replaced the valve cover gaskets, sync/set the carbs, and set the timing.

His price for the work was very fair, and he got me my Pinz back pretty quickly, considering that parts needed to be ordered. Unlike other automotive mechanics I have dealt with, he did not seem to be trying to sell me more work than I really needed.

He is obviously very knowledgeable, and a great resource for info on Pinzgauers for those who visit this board. I just thought I would let you all know my positive first-hand experience in dealing with him when he worked on my Pinz.

x2 Jim is a standup guy and one I would recomend highly. He has worked on both of my Haffies and his work is impecable, his prices are fair, and he has great advice and suggestions. If their was a rating system he would get 5 stars from me.

When Jim works on my trucks, he gets tipped above and beyond his repair charge - because he's worth it, my trucks work right, and I want to ensure that he will never be reluctant to help! He answered a couple of technical phone calls while I was rebuilding my steering box and I owe him for that help; I can't expect him to help me for free (although he does, and gives of his experience freely on this site). Jim, the next time I get around that way the meal and cold ones are on me!

Yup and yup
Jim inspected and worked on my Hafi and got it up to snuff to pass Canadian inspection when I first got it.
I was so impressed with his work, knowledge and friendliness that when I purchased the Pinz I shipped it across the US so Jim could work his magic.
We have chatted via phone and email, hopefully this spring/summer I will get to meet him as we have an office near by.
There are not many out there anymore that know what Jim knows
Ok that's enough nice stuff - it's all going to go to his head

Jim has helped me out with the Pinz and the Haffy on a few occasions, he does great work and is a good man, too. Everyone on this site has benefitted from him.
I like cats, too.

Wish i had a Jim L closer to me (Ga.) but i will settle for being able to read his posts/responces in helping me get things figuered out. If he was closer he would be getting a vist from my 710! There are two names on here that are the "go to" guys. When i have an issue/question i search the forum in hope of having one or both of them addressing it. They do a great job helping me out and they don't even know it. Well, I can atleast say thank you now for their service to this forum and all the help they have been over the last 10 years / 20k + miles to me. Thanks again Jim and Dennis !

Andre is another "go to" guy if you want something custom made for your Pinz. He's also quite knowledgeable with the mechanics of a Pinzgauer, also.

Thanks to all you guys who recommended GOATWERKS, as I just bought a 710K that has been sitting for some time, and Goatwerks is close by me. I was wondering how or where I was going to get the info and parts and work I needed done, done, now I know.

Sorry to say, Goatwerks has one knock against it. I don't want to stir up trouble, but it needs to be said..... Jim is to damn far for 95% of us Pinz owners!!! :)
