Truck is (and was) running fine, however this ooze trail appeared after sitting for a week in moderately (85F) warm weather. I haven't had a chance to get into super research mode, and am still figuring out the truck as a whole in general, but I'm going to inexpertly hypothesize old hoses? Seems to be too much for general weeping. What I can see is a braided hose, covered (but not dripping) in a lighter color fluid. It doesn't smell like gasoline. The hose sits on top of the gas tank and runs aft, but where to I have yet to determine as I haven't pulled anything out yet.

Does anyone have an prior knowledge or insight with this particular issue?

If you take a look behind the passenger seat at the gas tank fill pipe, you'll see a smaller metal pipe that comes off the rear of the fill pipe and goes down thru the floor. This is a vent pipe for the tank. The pipe connects to that hose covered in goo and the hose than goes back into the tank.

That hose is #14 on the following diagram: Most likely that hose is old and is weeping gas slowly. The fumes probably just evaporated.

I would *guess* it is the disintegration of your fuel filler hose, due to ethanol in the gas. We see it a lot in the Ferrari world, as these old rubber lines get destroyed by high ethanol content fuels --- especially when service stations switch to summer-blends.

Get it replaced. It is dangerous.

Had a similar problem. Had to drop the tank. Be sure to get the correct size hose, try one EI or SAV. Seriously doubt if Napa has the correct one.
Mine was abraded on one side from constant rubbing on the hole the tube goes through. Might want to put a grommet there when you replace the hose.
A tank full of petrol is heavy. Either run it out or drain it. Might take two people to drop that tank.

If you drop the tank replace the two cork gaskets #5 in the drawing at the tanks mating surface for the fuel pickup tube and the fuel level sending unit. That's where mine was leaking and exhibiting the same appearance, I replaced all the fuel line going to the tank at the same time. The large fuel fill tube was fine on mine.

I think a tank drop is definitely in order at any rate. How hard of a task is this for one person (given an empty tank)? 1-day job at most? (fingers crossed...)

Are you serious? Please tell me your truck DIDN'T come with a hydraulic bottle jack that sits behind the passenger seat, next to the fuel neck, used to change out a flat.

Not a bad job, did mine with ~4 gallons in the tank. Used a floor jack with a piece of plywood about a foot square between the jack and the tank to hold the tank up while bolts were removed and to ease the tank down while removing the fill tube. used the jack to lift the tank back into place also. the only real pain is getting the fill tube back into place. A little grease helps to slip the tube back into place. Took me a couple of hours, was in no rush.

No, no it's there...AND LOOKS LIKE IT"S BEEN LEAKING. Son of a... I cleaned everything out, put the jack on some clean towels, and will wait and see what everything does over the next couple days. Fluid color did look awfully similar to what I wiped off of the outside.

It is possible. My truck came from a reputable dealer and it didn't have the OEM jack. He swapped in a crappy jack that doesn't even reach the axle when fully extended.

I hate when "reputable dealers" do things like sell trucks that have been stripped of all the tooling and kit. I feel the same about motorcycle shops that steel the tool kits out of the bikes when they come through.
