Has anyone opened one of these up? It looks to be just two straight tubes within the outer shell, mine looks pretty rough, has 'something" rattling around inside, and I believe, is the source of a small exhaust leak internally. I was thinking about taking it off, opening it up, having it repaired/welded, and refitting.
Any suggestions appreciated, and if by chance you have a serviceable one collecting dust in the garage, please let me know, thanks.

Re: Heat exchanger question...
I didn't open mine up, but there are pics online where someone did. There should be an aluminum casting with fins that surrounds the 2 straight exhaust pipes to create the heat exchanging surface area. On the German forum there's some mention of that aluminum melting or failing at really high temps and long trips- hopefully that hasn't happened to yours.

Hopefully...
Thanks for the reply, I'll just have to see if someone has one hanging around they don't need.
