shifter ?

i just reinstalled the shifter , there was a cotter pin like thing its two half's that lock together that goes either on top of the spring or on top of the half ball piece does anybody know ?i put it on top of the spring but i dont know if its right can someone tell me ???

I believe you did it correctly. That's where I put it when rebuilding the shift pivot and it has worked fine since. Drawing on SAVs site shows it on top of the spring too.
