I use a wedge(to hold the split open) and a porta power to remove the wheel drives.

Ditto......not a real Porta Power, but I've got a lot of hydraulic-over-electric rams of assorted sizes...I found one that fit the bill and it was easy-sleazy.
Going back on was another story......but I used my own brand of persuasion. A two-foot long section of a black walnut 8x8 and a 14-pound sledge did the trick.

Drives go on very easy if you install the wedge to the gap and then use a come a long to pull it back together(last 1/2")while keeping the alignment pin hole in position. Always avoid using hammers where finesse is needed.

Thanks guys, I'm dreading tearing into it but the differential has been leaking badly for a long time.
