What do I call this cover/gasket?

Post by Pinz710m2 »

As you can see in the last photo, I've got a leaky gasket/cover.
I'm not really sure what to call this, or what it covers, but I need
to order another from EI or SAV. What do I tell them it is? As you
can see, it has 2 screws holding it on, with 2 bent washers retaining
the screws from turning.

(Pics are in order as you get closer, so you can see where it is)

Thank you. Ordered.

I must have looked at that diagram a dozen times and never saw it.

You will find there are a number of great gasket making products out there. I have had great results with Right Stuff for valve covers and wheel hubs. I learned about it on this board. The point is that you don't always have to sweat ordering a gasket. For me, the time saved can be a big advantage.

Like said prior, making gaskets is easy if it's a simple pattern, been doing it for 40 years.
There are several types of material depending on you gasket needs.
Thin, thicker, thick, cork and so on. A little gasket cinch and done, again depending on your gasket needs.
