Hi All,
I have discovered the source of a small leak on the Pinz, it seems that the diff switch window gasket (SAV PN 7101312071) is compromised and need to be replaced. I was however surprised to see oil coming from here, is it normal to have oil behind this gasket? Pic attached.

Re: Center Tube diff lamp
The switch that is beneath that cover is made of metal with a plastic insert. Over time the two pieces seem to loosen and separate slightly allowing oil to seep in to the cover. The only fix I've found is replacing the switch.

Re: Center Tube diff lamp
there is an upgrade available; a different lid you can connect a breathing tube to.
this prevents pressure build up inside the tube
look at item 19 of http://www.puch.at/en/spare-parts/pinzg ... l-tube-ab/

Yup, I had the same leak same problem, bad switch and leaked.
Replacement is not cheap but fixed the leak.

Is the switch you are referring to SAV PN 7103322970 ?pcolette wrote:The switch that is beneath that cover is made of metal with a plastic insert. Over time the two pieces seem to loosen and separate slightly allowing oil to seep in to the cover. The only fix I've found is replacing the switch.

Yes, that's it. I didn't realize they started making them out of precious metals though
It's a bit less expensive from Scott @ EI.

Re: Center Tube diff lamp
The switch is actually mounted to the "witches hat" that has oil in it - not the central tube - so the oil comes from there. It is accessed from a cover in the central tube so its confusing.
Whether or not to replace it is a question related to how much oil is leaking and your tolerance level of the Pinz marking its territory...

Just to be clear this is located on the tube just before the rear diff. Or to put it another way it's located on the tube between the front and rear diff. It's not the locker, it's for the 4wd engagement.Haf-e wrote:The switch is actually mounted to the "witches hat" that has oil in it - not the central tube - so the oil comes from there. The 4wd engagement and the diff-locker use the same components (cover lid, slave cylinders and switches)EmbarkChief wrote:Just to be clear this is located on the tube just before the rear diff.
