Transfer case lever/cable connection

Reinstalling it is going to be challenging. It looks like I may need to get an adjustable leveling wedge of some sort. Position this on top of the lever, then tighten the wedge to push the lever in.
Otherwise I'll cut an access panel, then reinstall with some rivnuts.

Imho cutting the chassis to create access sounds like way more work than lifting it. I just removed 5 bolts (on a 712); used the jach to lift the rear and and stacked some blocks of wood underneath the rear bumper. That took less than an hour.

Absolutely. For a once off installation I would agree. For easier future access I may still look at a panel. 4 to 6 rivnuts will be easier. The "difficult" part is that the one supportbar cross over the lever.
It's on the To Do list. A long one. Now the focus is fixing the air tunnel - before our first snow this coming weekend.
