I was having a hard time installing the new rubber on the piston. I drilled a 1” hole in a 2x4 and pressed the piston into it and put the block of wood in a vice. This made it easy to put the rubber piece on. Once it was on, I split the piece ow wood to get the piston out.
My question: my pushrod was not held in place by a snap ring as shown in the parts book. A good tug removed it and a good shoved got it back on. The best I could tell there was no groove for a snap ring. It seems to work fine. What are other people finding?

Re: Clutch slave cylinder trick and question
On my 712 the clutch rod is free and in principle could fall out.
But the slave won't retract on it's own far enough for that to happen
so has been problem free.
On my 710 there is a retention clip and it snapped into place.

Re: Clutch slave cylinder trick and question
There is a retention clip that can/should be inside the Clutch Fork.
There is no retention on the Slave piston side other than the rubber boot.
Item "46" below.
