speedo leaking bad

Post by Jerbearyukon »

So my speedo is leaking....Scott at EI said that sometimes the hole it sits in gets rounded a bit. He said he was going to send me a fatter "O" ring for it, but forgot in his last shipment :(.

Anyway I wa wondering if a breather in there would be the ticket...I have been trying to fix this leak for about 1.5 YEARS.

Tried lots of different things but it never seems to work.

WOW when I get all this stuff done I will really be DONE....

anyone have a picture of the relief valve setup so I know what I am looking for.

So I got the speedo done and we will see if it leaks again..just think there is too much pressure and it goes past the "O" ring.

Also can't the fluid go up the shaft INSIDE and through the top?

Gotter fixed....quite a job for such a little thing. Finally got an "O" ring that would work and had to use lots of vaseline to get her to go in and I had to lift the front wheels off the ground so I could turn them to get it to go in all the way.

But she's in and NO LEAKS...yeah baby.

speedo leak

Glad it worked. I had the same problem and was testing before posting.

I had cut a new gasket the same size as the washer from a cork blank. Only did 50 miles, but it worked too.

Leaking Speedo output

Post by kpoling »

I put the new #3 seal, #13 O-ring and mine leaked worse than before I replaced them. I tried a generic O-ring above the # 14 washer, but still leaking. I wonder if the #13 O-ring causes the ring nut to not close as tight? (Mine was missing this O-ring) :x

What size O-ring did you use & where did you install it?
