Loctite list

Post by martinlbb »

Guys,

I own a really old manuals, who identify Loctite glue with two digits numbers. This is fairly old!

Do you know what kind of modern Loctite I can apply for half axis mounting?

Next, we could make a list for Pinz owner to identify what kind of Loctite is necessary on an item. My goal is to avoid a remake of Red Bull Pinz half axis slip.

I have some references :
* loctite 42 (what the hell is that? Loctite 263?)
* Loctite 75 (Loctite 270?)
* Loctite Anti Seize: easy to find
* Molykote LongTerm: Lithium grease?
* Sealant: Loctite 5926?
* Brake grease: CRC or TRW brake grease.
* Structural sealant (ie: hard top): Sixaflex 221

With all information, I can manage to create an array, with needed references, if it's okay for you.

Loctite have changed their numbers a few times over the years.....I usually ring up their help line and get the equivalents.
I was recently talking to the Loctite service guy and he said they are reducing individual numbers even moreso as more "universal" Loctite products/compounds become available (all original numbers products will however remain for aviation uses/industries).

* loctite 42 (what the hell is that? Loctite 263?) ............ Loctite 243
* Loctite 75 (Loctite 270?) .......................................... Correct, Loctite 270
* Loctite Anti Seize: easy to find .................................. Can't beat it, I use it everywhere.
* Molykote LongTerm: Lithium grease? ......................... Any Molykote Grease will suffice, eg Dow Corning BR2 Plus etc.
* Sealant: Loctite 5926? ............................................. Loctite 518......Teroson/Loctite Atmosit Compact N is great for larger sealing gaps.
* Brake grease: CRC or TRW brake grease..................... Any Brake Grease will suffice, eg Mintex Cera Tec, ATE Paste etc
* Structural sealant (ie: hard top): Sixaflex 221a ........... Any Structural Sealant will suffice, I personally like the Teroson Range.

Oh thank you, this is really clear!

Next step is to find some equivalent products, depending on your area (North America, Europe, Australia, for example). We do have local brands not widely available (execpt Loctite!!).
