Starter trouble
When starting my Pinz the starter solenoid doesn't kick the starter in to engage. I have to hit the start button several times before the solenoid will kick the starter in. I took the starter out and put 24 Vdc to it and it works everytime.I'm thinking poor ground(will test tomorrow). Anybody have the same problem evernand know the cure?

I'd bet the Bendix is bad; the solenoid DOES kick in, but the one-way clutch in the Bendix slips. Sounds like it is just spinning without engaging, but it is engaged (just won't spin the engine because the slipping bendix won't turn the output gear). This is what was wrong with my starter - Bendix seemed OK on the bench, but acted like it wouldn't engage when installed. After a month of cussing at it I replaced the Bendix and all has been great for many years now.
Other people have reported wear in the bushings creates starter problems, too.

What I mean by does not kick in is- The starter spins but the starter solenoid doesn't seem to kick the small gear that engages the flywheel. Jim M. sounds like he might be spot on with the diagnosis of the slipping bendix. I will check into it and post results of my findings.

Re: Starter trouble
Did this issue ever get rectified. I am having the same issue with my 712. IT will randomly take two or three button pushes to get the starter to work. It will just make the click sound. Othertimes, she works perfectly. I can't stand issues that happen periodically and are not constant
Re: Starter trouble
Yours sounds more like an earth/ground problem. Check the connections are tight on the starter itself
