Hella Light Installation

Post by jrcotner »

The old Bosch headlights are getting a little blurry, so I decided to install some nice Hella headlamps. I removed the old lights, and found two extra lugs on them with spring connectors: one with two white wires, the other with a single grey wire. Not knowing what to do with the spare wires, I wrapped them in electrical tape for the moment, connected the lights, and found the lamps only burned at about 1/3 illumination. Clearly the white and grey are important, but where should they be connected? I checked around the site but couldn't find out about wiring these Hella lights.
Thanks,
John Cotner

This link to a coloured wiring diagram on Robi's Pinzgauer Forum may help.

Here's a link to the colored schematic on THIS forum: http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/v ... =14&t=8985 (I think they both show the schiz PC made.)

According to the schematic, there are three hot leads going to each headlight assembly: Hi beam, Lo beam, and Parking light. It's chassis grounded.

You'll only want the Hi beam and Lo beam hot leads to feed the new bulbs, and ground the common lead from the bulb. The lead for the Parking light will not be used.
