Paul,
You are a gem. I do appreciate the info, always good to know people that can find things.
Next big thing is the linings. I will check with them next week and see if they can supply linings as well.

G'Day Morris,
I guess what I meant, was there has to be a brake shop locally who can do the job.....or I guess you could slip into your togs, stuff a few brake shoes in them and start swimming . I'II meet you down at the bay!
I have about four, plus places all within say a 10 km radius and so I'm guessing you must have similar options.
BTW, In the 15+ years my 712 has been on/off road I've never had a bonded lining come off.

Re: Brake lining...911!
I'm sensing a trend here...bonded it is!!!
OK, now that stuff is out of the way...you guys have good beer down there, right? I'll be the guy with the swimming togs around my ankles from the weight of several brake linings.
I hear Otis Redding in the background singing 'Dock of the bay'.

I wish that was the case for me. Only took the removal of two drums for mine to fall off! When I had mine riveted, the guy told me the only reason for the bonding was to stretch the life of the shoe.Profpinz wrote: BTW, In the 15+ years my 712 has been on/off road I've never had a bonded lining come off.
Riveting was also nice because you get your shoes back in 5-10 minutes.

Re: Brake lining...911!
I also have had linings come off my 712. some old fart pulled out in front of my and I had to lock up the brakes (yeah I stood on them pretty hard). When I started pulling away you could hear something was wrong, pulled over and pulled off the drum to find both lining busted up pretty bad, good thing for the ebrake and not being far from home.
We only have one shop left in the Phoenix area that can do brake and clutch relining. I get them bonded and riveted when they need to be done. Not too costly, I think $25 a wheel.
