Pulls to the right (Replacement hose?? Local parts store??)

Post by schil123 »

Hello all!

I have a pull to the right when applying the brakes. Shoes look great. Cylinders look good. NO LEAKS. Guessing it is a left front brake line that has collapsed? Does anyone know if there is a specific AFTERMARKET hose that is close or the same as our trucks have? Part number or application would be helpful.

Thank you in advance!

Have you adjusted the brakes?

If yes, did you remember to adjust both adjusters in each of the fronts?

And to answer your question, 'no', I've never run across an aftermarket hose.

Lads

you don't need AFERmarket components when you can have PREmarket = OEM ones.
Steyr never made the hoses; they are from ATE, the brake manufacturer.

front hose is 400 mm part nr. 3.5203-0400.3
rear hose is 260 mm part nr. 3.5203-0260.3

they were also used in various Mercedes models of the 1960 to 1980 ranges...

nevertheless i doubt you have an issue with your hoses. try to start from scratch.
turn in both adjusters as far as possible and set both adjusters to the same number of clicks for each side .
once you feel and hear the brake shoe biting , turn back both adjusters two clicks
Cheers

Pinz hoses are 12x1 thread which is fairly unusual... don't think you'll find anything locally - perhaps a MB parts place might be able to help but I would just order from EI or SAV and save the hassle. Reminds me to order up a pair to keep on hand as spares.

I had the exact issue on a BMW 2000CS sedan once - it was fine and in the course of three days commuting it went from just noticeable to full lane change pulling to the right. Swapped the flex lines out and it was fine.
