Such a royal pain in the ass to do the fronts. That top bolt sucks!!
One minute per rear shock, but I'm on hours for the front. I need a second set of hands!

Ya, they were a pain. Removing the sleeves was the worst part. Inserting them was a pain too, but I was more concerned with damaging the rubber bushing, so I lubed the hell out if it.

Re: Please fix the sleeves on aftermarket shocks.
Some slide right out! Others take a ton of messaging and its a crapshoot. I'm still working on the drivers side after thinking the bolt went in just far enough to lock into the sleeve. Now the whole sleeve is rotating and I cannot get the bolt back out. I can't push it in any further because I have no room. I'm nervous of damaging the insert but its the only choice I have to get it back out, all due to a crappy sizing of a fricken shock sleeve.
It's partially my fault for not testing the bolt in the sleeve before installing.

Just adding in Bergers Tech Post re: Aftermarket shock install and sleeve issue for reference.
It seems crazy that they are incorrect when the manufacturer is to have 'customized' them for the Pinz

I found a healthy does of Honey Goo helped to start it, much like Berger used silicone. I then eased it in with the assistance of a vice.

Re: Please fix the sleeves on aftermarket shocks.
Hi guys,
Today we receive the first run of Doetsch shocks with the factory spec sleeve in both the top and the bottom. In the same order is a batch of extra sleeves. Originally the upper sleeve was fine, however sometime over the last year they changed the manufacture of the upper sleeve and the bolt hole sizing went out of spec, making it more difficult on install.
This should be handled with this new manufacturing update.
Cheers,
Scott
