The gauge seems to be sticking. I gently tapped it and the needle moved to reflect the correct fuel level but it has now gone back to sticking at E. What's the fix for this problem folks?

Gee David... your problem is better than tapping the gauge and it goes to empty..... as you're rolling to a stop on the interstate.

Re: Sticky fuel guage...says E but it ain't
By the way, i guess I should have posed this question under electrical problems. I'll do that the next time for sure.
OK, so i followed those instructions about running a new ground wire from the gas tank sending unit up to the gauge on the dash board but probably didn't find a good spot where i could ground it because the gauge didn't budge. As i was looking around, I thought about perhaps using one of the hex head screws on the access plate for the sender as the ground and guess what? It worked.
As I HATE electrical problems, please tell me why this isn't the right solution to this problem even though I now having a functioning fuel level gauge.
Thanks!
