How to get troup marking plate painted

I received my troup marking plates from SAV today. I was expecting them to painted red with the white cross and the swiss text, but they are just blank bare metal. I called SAV and they said they're always that way.

Has anyone gone through having blank plates painted with the Swiss Army details? I imagine a sign shop could do that from a picture.

What have you seen done?

The red cross plates are an American "woolie" item Something to make the owner to feel "warm and fuzzy" about their truck.
The plate were originally a hand written assignment plate... more of "if found , return to...."

Wow, didn't know that. That puts a totally different perspective on it. Maybe we write something like that on them ourselves.

Still would like to know if people are getting them painted and how though.

There has been companies making them, but I was never into those items. Do a search here, I know there has been a few threads.
Some were misspelled and other wrong grammar.... but who cared? the owner felt all warm and fuzzy about it.

Sort of like tourists that buy Japanese T shirts that translate to "Dumb American".

I know Paul...I'll burn in hell for that one too.

Now a days it is cheaper and easier to set the design you want and have a local sign shop make a printer wrap for the plain sign. Just like wrapping a NASCAR.

There are many good images. I was thinking of the one below. By the way the Suisse Armee sign are also grammatically wrong. The word order is backwards.

I did search, will try some more.

We can tell from our faded paint that our 710M had the plates on it. So we want them on it as it was. My son just suggested we put our family coat-of-arms on it!

That's just what I needed to know. Thanks! BTW my son had a 58 Land Rover, it's gone now.

It would have been a blank plate when it sold by the Swiss.

Now I'm wondering how the Swiss Army would have marked it. 71 is still modern times. Slap a sticker on it, mark it by hand? I'd love to know the history.

As in my first post, hand written.
They had no assignment at auction, so the plates were cleaned.
There are some Swiss member here, they may chime in, but I've only heard of a few that had any of their truck's history, and only because a lucky historical photo.

I, on the other hand, can document all but 262 miles on my Pinz because I know the a$$ that drove them.

Here's something I came across a few years ago - can't remember from who.

The "D F B 1" is typical of the Pinz plate.

I made the following just using standard stencils and flat paint.

If you want the "N American version" that you see everyone using you should be able to buy a printed sticker from Andre.
I believe his brother makes/prints them.
That is what I did.
