OEM seat bottom removal and install

Post by bbolander »

I have a better used OEM seat bottom cushion that I want to replace my existing OEM seat bottom cusion with. I can see from the one that's off the PInz that there are small holes in the cushion side flaps that appear to attach to some prong tabs on the underside of the seat frame.

Has anyone done this and have tips to remove and install. Wondering if the seat frame tabs need to be opened up with a screwdriver pry before removing and replacing or not? Or any other tricks.

We're taking the Pinz on a trip in 2 weeks and I can't afford to have it down with no drivers seat bottom by starting removal and not being able to finish the re-install.

Thanks to pcolette for the better OEM drivers seat cushion. Got it installed today. Getting the flaps off of the frame prongs was easy with tugs on the flap with linesman's pliers. I had to bend the prongs up to get the replacement seat on though. Fortunately only one of them broke off.

The old seat seams were torn, fabric torn.

The replacement OEM seat is much better.

If you haven't done this before, a couple of pictures.

The frame has prongs to hold the cushion flaps on, the flaps have holes in them for the prongs.
